MacKerricher Docents, Seal Monitors, and Park Hosts met this afternoon at the Visitor Center and were introduced to Fred Andrews, our new District Interpreter II, and Stacey Kaufman, our new seasonal Park Interpreter. Thanks for coming and extra thanks to Alan for hosting us, and to Carolyne and George Cathey for coming out and supporting MacKerricher programs.
Ranger Natalie Lohi and Fred Andrews have established the calendar of upcoming events, which is largely incoming school groups for the near future, and volunteers have signed up to assist the groups coming in through mid-June.
Harbor seal pups are currently being monitored by MacKerricher's devoted harbor seals monitors. All of us, and the seals, are looking forward to some calmer seas.
Ocean safety is the first topic for all of our public contacts, then we pass on the interpretive messages that we can share in this special park as we learn along with our visitors about our marine mammals, fish, tidepool invertebrates, plants, birds, dune habitat and even our lichen.
Thanks all for coming out to meet, greet, and help these groups have fun while they learn.

MacKerricher State Park and Mendocino District welcome our new Park Interpreter, Fred, and seasonal interpreter Stacey. Spring has sprung and we have school groups arriving most days of the weeks, plus more visitors in the Park every day as the days grow longer.
MacKerricher volunteers are meeting April 29 at 3:00PM at the Visitor Center to meet Fred, and set up schedules to work with the incoming groups and individual visitors.
Please let us know if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, or have hours you can contribute on these fun and worthwhile programs.
