Greetings All,
If you haven't seen the Cleone Lake-MacKerricher Dr-Haul Road-beach area in the past week, you will be impressed. The warm storms have brought so much rainfall that the Lake is now open to the ocean through a gap in the Haul Road. At one point at least the waves were crashing OVER the Haul Road at the dip near Cleone Lake. If you haven't seen the story, it's on the front page of the January 5 Advocate News.
January brings new energy for the upcoming seasons and I hope it finds you in good health. If you have time and would enjoy contributing to activities in the Park, you can contact Ranger Natalie at
nlohi@mcn.org and she will advise you of the upcoming events and meetings.
The District Staff has been busy cleaning up and assessing the damage to visitor service facilities. The list is long. The weather is something we cannot change, but we certainly can plan for visitors, because they will come, ready or not.
Great birding and whale watching. I hope to see you at MacKerricher.
